Figure 42: Main Menu
After powering on the nuvi 1390T, the Main Menu screen appears, as shown above. Make sure the GPS is set to Automobile mode, and then tap "Where to?" from the Main Menu.

Figure 43: Entering a Street Address as a Destination
Most of the time you'll likely be navigating to a street address (as opposed to a business name or intersection). After tapping on Where to? from the Main Menu, tap on Address to begin inputting a street address.

Figure 44: Entering the State
The nuvi 1390T automatically defaults to use the State you are currently located in.
If your destination address is in a State other than your current location, tap Change State or Country, otherwise tap Spell City to use the currently selected State.

Figure 45: Entering the State Name
Use the on-screen keyboard to spell the name of the city your destination address is located in.
Tip: tapping the folder icon in the upper-left portion of the screen displays a list of recently found cities.

Figure 45: Choosing a State Name From the Results List
I'm entering a destination address in New York State, so I type out N-E-W-space, and the nuvi 1390T automatically displays a list of matching city names. In this example, I'm entering a street address in New York City, so I'll choose "New York, NY" to continue.

Figure 46: Select Street
After entering the house number and street name, the nuvi 1390T displays a list of possible matching street names to choose from. Depending on the name of the street, you may or may not be presented with this additional step.
When entering a street name, you only enter the main portion of the street name, and allow the GPS to search for possible matches. For example, if you are looking for "North Main" street, you would only enter "Main" as the search criteria, and the GPS would produce a list of matching street names, such as "South Main Street" and "North Main Street".

Figure 47: Address Confirmation Screen
With the address fully entered into the nuvi 1390T, the destination can either be saved to the address book by tapping Save, or the nuvi can start navigating to the destination by pressing the large green Go! button.
Tapping the "Press for more" callout box displays additional information about the planned trip, shown below.

Figure 48: Address Confirmation Details
The trip details screen displays the destination address, currently selected usage mode, distance, estimated drive time, and fuel cost (provided a vehicle profile has been configured in ecoRoute).

Figure 49: Navigating to the Destination Address
Tap on the green Go! button and the nuvi starts routing to the destination address.
Address entry on the nuvi 1390T is a breeze. The interface is easy, to use and the unit feels fast and responsive. There's no annoying lag when operating the device, and text can be entered as quickly as your fingers will allow.
